Outstanding Iowa Test Scores of AHA Scholars

Every year American Heritage  Academy scholars take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS: Iowa Test of Basic Skills). This test has been the preferred choice of educators since 1935. Each year scholars are measured against the nation’s students to ensure that instruction at American Heritage Academy exceeds the highest standards of education in the United States. We are proud of the accomplishments by our students and faculty; once again test scores have proven that the American Heritage curriculum provides an exceptional learning experience. National averages are represented by a mean at the 50th percentile. The top school district in the country boast scores in the high 60′s.

Nevada schools no longer offer the ITBS test (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) to students. In 2010, after many years of declining numbers, Nevada school districts posted dead last in the United States with a 42nd percentile on the ITBS test. This educational failure caused the State Board of Education to write their own testing model. This customized test now prevents Nevada schools from being compared to more traditional national standards.

The American Heritage Academy’s “Classical Education” allows for your child to learn core subjects such as Math, Reading, Literature, Geography, Science, Art, Liberal Arts, and Language at a level that far exceeds public education. Most scholars from American Heritage will leave the 8th grade three grade levels ahead of their peers in public school.

Here are this years test results, we invite you and your child to be a part of American Heritage Academy and begin the process of learning.

I have seen a huge improvement with my son since being at AHA. They raise the bar and kids rise to the challenge. I love it!

  • Hilary Brock

These test scores speak for themselves. I believe that the scholars at American Heritage are held to a higher expectation of achievement and they respond to that by reaching for a higher standard.

  • Emily

My daughter attended kindergarten at AHA this past year, and I am amazed at how much she learned during her first year of school compared to her friends who attended public school. I also loved that there were 13 students in her kindergarten class. Three of her neighborhood friends started kindergarten at the local public elementary school in a class of 47 students. We have been beyond pleased with the education she’s received at American Heritage so far.

  • Cindy Walker

I have been a part of the ITBS testing process for the past 7 years and the scholars continue to rise far above the national average. The curriculum at American Heritage is not to “teach to the test”, but rather brings out the “best in each scholar”. They are educated to think for themselves and to use their God-given intellect for reasoning any question given to them. I am always so proud of the scholars and their desire to do their very best in all aspects of their lives.

This was our first year at American Heritage and our four children have really blossomed with American Heritage Academy’s curriculum. They have progressed much further and quicker than we anticipated in just one year. Their education has been well balanced with many good friends with which to associate. The teachers are caring and focused on helping our children succeed. We commute across town for the opportunity to attend AHA but it’s well worth the drive!

  • Howard Nielsen

Not surprising when one observes the solid internal grounding posessed by the scholars at AHA. Achievement is the natural consequence of those who understand who they are, and what is expected of them by a loving Savior.

  • High School

As the American Heritage high school students it is nice to know that our hard work has payed off. The statistics prove it. We are so grateful for the opportunities that are given to us by going to American Heritage.

  • Laura

I was not aware of this information, its bittersweet. I am so greatful that my children are able to attend American Heritage, getting the best possible education. At the same time I feel a little sad that so many children in the public school are being let down by the system. American Heritage is a remarkable school.

  • Jennifer

I am so grateful to have found American Heritage. The commitment of administration and teachers to educate the children well with a meaningful curriculum is priceless. Thank you!

  • Wirig Family

My children are learning so much and being challenged each day at American Heritage Academy. I am grateful for the curriculum and dedication of amazing teachers. Thank you AHA!

  • Spencer White

I would prefer American Heritage Academy over any other school

  • 8ericksens

The money spent to send children to this school is worth while. Can we shortcut their education and developing minds? I am thankful this school is a light and a respit in this valley of such moral opposition.

  • Judd Family

While these test score comparisons are impressive, they don’t tell the whole story of the benefits of attending this school. It is a nurturing environment, as well as a focused education. There is a lot of learning that can happen here, with great teachers and a challenging curriculum.

  • Katie Strganac

Not surprised! This school is great!

  • Johnbeckstead

Our children attended AHA 2 years ago until we moved out of the state. After being disappointed with the options available for their education we made the decision to move over 500 miles so our boys can attend AHA!!

  • Siplak Family

I have definitely seen impressive improvements with my sons education. They are blooming with the love of learning. Coming from the CCSD program, they were struggling to learn the basics of education. After attending American Heritage Academy, in just 4 months, their reading has soared and their love for self and others has been a great blessing for our family. I am grateful for their nurturing teachers and staff that continually influence my childrens lives and future. These test scores show the academic success of American Heritage Academy but my children show me the academic, emotional and spiritual success the school continually offers.

  • Terence N.

The curriculum at AHA is much more challenging than the public schools here in Las Vegas. It is not a surprise that the students at AHA do better in Iowa test than other schools

  • Tayden N.

I have been at AHA for 3 months and my homeworks are much harder than at my previous school.

  • Grah Leavitt

I am exuberantly happy with the exceptional education my children are receiving at American Heritage Academy. I’m pretty sure my kindergartner has more homework than I did even as a 5th grader. It adds up to a lot of work, but I appreciate the rigor these kids participate in on a near daily basis. The results speak for themselves, and are obvious even on just the individual level of watching my own children grow in knowledge and wisdom.

  • Malissa Thrift

Amazing results! I have a fifth grader and first grader at American Heritage Academy and I couldn’t be more happy with the level of education they are receiving. I feel that as parents we should prepare our children the best we can for their future. I was blessed to find a school that not only develops their minds but nurtures the spirit as well.

I’m so proud of my fellow classmates keep it up aha !!!!!

    Sincerely Austin Zec.

American heritage is the best. These scores gives me perspective as to how much more advanced one can become just from going here -

AHA provides a peaceful, happy, encouraging environment. The students want to be here. It’s no wonder they do so well.
