Curriculum
This principle based approach provides for both academic and religious education in every subject and at every grade level. In addition to traditional subject areas like math, language, science, history, and physical education, our scholars participate in fine art classes. These classes provide opportunities for the scholars to participate in productions that enrich the curriculum like our three annual Pilgrim, Patriot and Shakespeare plays. The upper grammar scholars also have the opportunity to choose electives such as journalism, leadership, theater, debate, orchestra, art, choir, and speech.
The standard of education that James Madison received is sorely lacking today and ought to be restored. The Principle Approach education system offers an approach to education that is closer to that received by James Madison and the other Founding Fathers than any other that exists today. Madison and his peers would be perfectly at home in its principles and methodology. He knew, too, the unique nature of the American form of government which emerged from a deeply Christian view of life. We have seen how, in his Bible studies, he researched the word of God to identify its basic truths, its principles and teachings. He learned early how to research, reason, relate and record in light of Biblical principles. ”The Education of James Madison – A Model for Today” by Mary – Elaine Swanson
