Mrs. Laurel Beckstead

Headmaster
Mrs. Beckstead is head of American Heritage Academy and oversees all the academy’s operations and needs. She has been with the academy for twenty years. She is passionate about what the academy represents, educating and preserving America's Heritage. Mrs. Beckstead has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Brigham Young University. A highlight of her education was attending the Center for Middle Eastern Studies in Jerusalem.

Mrs. Beckstead has a B.A in English from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree in Urban Leadership and Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Further to her educational pursuits, she was the recipient for “2010 Young Mother” for the state of Nevada through American Mothers Inc. This is an organization that recognizes mothers who are making a difference in the family and community.

Internationally, Mrs. Beckstead is an educational consultant and administrator to Nanchang No. 3 High School’s International program in partnership with Jiangxi Education Center for International Cooperation in Nanchang, China. She is also a co-founder of a non-profit organization, I am Zambia, educating young women with entrepreneurial skills. This organization also runs a village school and a medical clinic in Lusaka, Zambia.

Her eldest daughter has a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Pepperdine and writes public policy for education and health reform. Her other daughter graduated from SVU and is a 2nd grade teacher at AHA. Her oldest son graduated from BYU and teaches world history at AHA. Her youngest son currently attends BYU.

Mrs. Beckstead loves to travel to historic places, read the classics and listen to the waves of the ocean.
