Mrs. Melissa Dunsmoor

Physical Education Teacher

Mrs. Dunsmoor was born in Salt Lake City and relocated to Las Vegas shortly after; of which she now calls home. Mrs. Dunsmoor has been married to her husband since 2005 and has four beautiful daughters; one being a grown adult and three of whom attend American Heritage Academy. Mrs. Dunsmoor has a degree in Science Arts. She was a dental office manager for many years; she currently runs her cabinetry business and has a love of coaching her children’s little league sports. Her favorite job, however, is being a wife and mother.

While being raised in Las Vegas most of her life, Mrs. Dunsmoor has seen the changes taking place throughout the valley, most concerning our children’s education. Mrs. Dunsmoor wanted more for her children than what the school district has to offer. Upon touring American Heritage Academy, she was in love. Her love for AHA is so incredible she commuted 100 miles round trip, willingly; to be assured her children are receiving the best Christian education the valley has to offer.  Mrs. Dunsmoor has been a volunteer since placing her daughter at AHA in 2017; especially discovering her love of reading week as characters from her children’s favorite books. She is ecstatic about being part of an environment that teaches faith, love, and patriotism while instilling top notch education.

When Mrs. Dunsmoor is not at school or commuting to and from, she enjoys serving with her church, adventures with her family – #1 spot Disneyland, cooking, and crafting.

The James Madison Statesman Award is given to the senior who best exemplifies outstanding Christian statesmanship.
A statesman is a representative of Jesus Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve; one tooled in the art of self-government under God, able to wisely steward his God-given property —his conscience, time, and talent—and the property of others; one able to think and reason Biblically in all areas of life, rightly dividing the Word of God; and one able to lead, by example, his own generation in a spirit of selflessness as an ambassador of Christ locally, nationally, and internationally. For we are ambassadors for Christ. (II Corinthians 5:20)
