Mrs. Shantris Jensen
Mrs. Jensen was born and raised in South Eastern Idaho.
Mrs. Jensen moved to Las Vegas in 1998 where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). During this time, she was given the opportunity to live in Barrow, Alaska (the top of the world) to participate in a research program regarding the Inupiat Alaskan Natives. She helped strengthen the education programs including the GED preparation courses.
Prior to graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, Mrs. Jensen applied for and was awarded a grant to conduct a qualitative research study on the causes of chronic homelessness and find correlations between substance abuse and mental health.
Mrs. Jensen went on to earn her master’s degree in Social Work. She has spent more than 15 years working with individuals and community partners to improve lives. She has also been involved in lobbying politicians to consider the impacts of laws and regulations on the underprivileged population.
Mrs Jensen’s professional experience gives her an understanding of the need for quality education and the shift of morals and accountability within our society. She has been happily married for 15 years and is the mother of five children. Being a mother fueled her passion to strengthen current scholars who will be future leaders. She is so happy to be able to do this as American Heritage Academy. This will be her fourth year teaching at AHA.
