Curriculum

LITERACY:  Classical nursery rhymes and stories with moral values. Literacy elements identified, characters, setting and plot. Introduced to phonics to be prepared to learn through the Spalding method, The Writing Road to Reading, in our kindergarten program.

MATH:  Our kinder prep scholars are taught number sense using the Kindergarten Saxon Math program. It is designed through a method called spiral teaching so that scholars return to the same topic many times through the yearly curriculum.

SCIENCE:  We follow the science curriculum written by the Foundation of American Christian Education. Kinder prep scholars will be taught the scientific method, simple machines, weather, seasons, oceanography, geology, botany, the solar system and human anatomy.

PE:  Scholars develop both gross and find motor skills through games and physical skills. They will also be introduced to game strategy and incorporate higher level thinking skills.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Students are introduced to physical health and community helpers.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  History and geography are taught to the scholars weekly introducing them to our place in the world and the role of Jesus Christ in creating the Earth. Scholars will specifically study our American Heritage through the study of the 50 states. Mapping and geographical features will be studied throughout the year.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION:  Through art and music our curriculum comes alive for the scholars. Each of these creative elements is integrated with our core curriculum each day.
